Public commenter asks board for clarity on student–teacher ratios and strategic planning costs

"I wanted to focus a little bit on the student teacher ratio... I just wanted to make sure that that's not part of the math," the commenter said, asking specifically whether instructional assistants or coaches were being included in the elementary ratios. The commenter also asked for secondary-level ratio data, split between certified and non-certified staff, and for an update on a strategic-planning engagement the board previously funded (the commenter recalled the cost as somewhere between $50,000 and $100,000).
Superintendent Shaw and board members acknowledged the request and said staff would research the precise ratio calculations and provide follow-up. The board did not provide the secondary-ratio breakdown or final strategic-planning status during the meeting.
