District to hold November community forums to discuss elementary configuration

Superintendent Andy Shaw told the Monroe Public Schools Board that the district will hold a series of community forums in November — and possibly into the first week of December — to solicit input on how the district should design its elementary schools.
"We are going to be holding community forums, over the month of November," Superintendent Shaw said, inviting staff, parents and community members to the conversations. He said staff have been discussing different models at the building level (for example K–6 versus preK–4) and will bring the forums’ findings back to the board as a possible recommendation.
Shaw also reviewed upcoming calendar items, including professional development late starts and the "This Is Us" community expo Nov. 7, and said the forums are intended to inform a future board discussion rather than to preordain a decision.
