Road Supervisor reports culvert installs, base repairs and cinder delivery

Road Supervisor Zach Smith told the Fiscal Court that when crews were not responding to snow calls they installed culverts on Marshalls Bottom Road and on Sweeney and Hieatt Lanes, extended a culvert five feet on Ditto Lane to reduce washouts, and laid dense grade on Wolfpen to protect blacktop edges. Smith said base failures on Erwin Lane have been repaired and will settle before being blacktopped in spring.
Judge/Executive Scott Bates reported the county took delivery of 100 tons of cinders and said the county could obtain 400–500 additional tons; he also said the County has "plenty of salt." The Court heard that if mowing and bushhogging costs are shifted, a budget amendment may be needed to accommodate equipment purchases and contracted mowing work.
