Candidate accuses commissioner of conflicts of interest; commissioner and colleagues respond; resident warns of data center risks

Commissioner Atkinson defended Brody's record and said many funds cited are economic development funds separate from general taxpayer funds and that the county has attempted to work with towns on outstanding balances. Atkinson said she has known Brody for years and vouched for his integrity: "I can tell you that there is nothing that this man does that isn't upfront and honorable." Another commissioner reacted emotionally to the allegations; Brody invited law enforcement review if wrongdoing were suspected.
Separately, Nina Forsyth of the City of Frostburg urged caution on data center development, warning of infrastructure costs passed to residents and the risk of stranded assets if AI and data companies consolidate. "If we build data centers here, we will most likely be stuck with stranded assets," she said.
