Library representative Jill Downigan told commissioners the library seeks permission to apply for a $265,000 San Angelo Health Foundation grant to upgrade its maker space and fund life-skills programming and a mobile outreach vehicle. The proposal also includes converting a part-time position to full time to support the expanded services.
Downigan described the planned upgrades as focused on "life skills" for young people and adding resources and outreach; Commissioner S5 and others spoke in support, noting the maker space has been a successful investment. The court moved and seconded the authorization and approved the library's request to submit the grant application.
Quote (verbatim): "We are just asking for the court's permission to apply for grama in the amount of $265,000 with the health foundation to make some major upgrades to the maker space, Esteem Central." — Jill Downigan (S9).
