ISD finance director presents preliminary ISD general fund budget; board to consider approval on June 1

David Smith, Saginaw ISD’s Executive Director of Finance, presented the preliminary ISD general fund budget and told the board the ISD will submit the document to constituent districts for approval under state law.
"According to Public Act 234 of 2004, the ISD must provide the general fund budget for the subsequent year to constituent districts for approval," Smith said. He explained the timeline for the ISD budget and noted the document will be placed on the board's Consent Agenda with an approval deadline of June 1, 2026.
Board members asked questions about line items and carryover assumptions; Smith and SISD staff answered those questions during the briefing. The presentation was informational and no formal district-level budget vote occurred at the briefing. Dr. Roberts confirmed the ISD budget will be on the Consent Agenda at the upcoming Action Meeting for formal consideration.
