Trustee J. Seals reported from the Policy & Curriculum committee that Neola recommended a set of policy updates reflecting recent legal changes, including proposed policies on artificial intelligence use, job cell phones and other district devices. She said the items will come to the board for final review at the April 15 consent agenda.
Seals said Phil from Neola advised simplifying the district’s approach to first and second readings: "Phil said to post the agenda and read a brief overview of the policy changes as the first reading. He said the second reading is to look at the editor time and say, 'This is what we went over the first time; here are the categories I would read.'" The briefing did not include final board action; the policies will return for the consent agenda next week.
