"It's an honor to stand before you today as we recognize National Vietnam War Veterans Day," Flowers said, noting that more than 2.7 million Americans served in Vietnam and that federal efforts in recent years such as the Blue Water Navy Act and the PACT Act have expanded presumptive benefits for veterans exposed to toxic agents like Agent Orange.
Board members thanked Flowers and members of the public for attending; the board and visiting veterans assembled for photographs and brief remarks before the meeting resumed.
