Lorain County landbank adopts $4.6 million 2026 budget, includes $3 million Welcome Home grant

The Lorain County Land Reutilization Corporation on Jan. 15 adopted a draft 2026 budget that lists total expenditures in the $4.6 million range and includes a $3 million Welcome Home grant targeted toward approximately 30 properties.
Acting Assistant Director James Miller summarized the draft and told the board, "The Welcome Home Grant is $3 million," and said the budget also includes funding for a new staff position. Miller told the board that demolition of the Days Inn would be costly—"around $2-3 million"—and that a lien would be placed on that property if demolition proceeded. The board adopted RESOLUTION NO. 2026-5 to adopt the 2026 budget; roll call recorded ayes from Moore, Bradley, Gallagher, Riddell and Talarek.
The draft budget lists line items and projected sources, including DRETAC, property sales and the Welcome Home Ohio grant, and shows specific expense categories such as residential and commercial programs, demo, personnel and debt retirement (LCLRC revenue bond: $242,000).
