Board approves athletic handbooks, travel and MHSAA resolution

The board also authorized overnight and out-of-state student travel — Mid-America Pompon Summer Camp in Alma, MI (June 17-21, 2026), Ferris State Volleyball camp in Big Rapids, MI (July 17-19, 2026), and Alma College Football camp (July 20-21, 2026) — by motion of Kevin Shanks, seconded by Jeffrey Whelton.
Separately, the board approved a Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) resolution for 2026-27 that the minutes state is required annually to allow Swan Valley teams to participate in MHSAA-sponsored tournament events. The minutes record unanimous votes (Aye: 5 Nye: 0) on these items.
