Allegheny County OKs MOU to let Long Term Recovery Committee distribute $122,000 in remaining flood-relief funds

Roger Bennett asked the commission for permission to enter an MOU with the Long Term Recovery Committee to deploy remaining state disaster relief funds obtained following the May 13 flood. Bennett told commissioners the county obtained $459,000 in state disaster relief funds in June 2025, has expended $336,000 to individuals for damaged or destroyed items, and has $122,000 remaining; the MOU would allow the Long Term Recovery Committee to extend those remaining dollars to individuals still recovering.
Commissioners voted to approve the MOU. "I want before you to ask permission to do an MOU with the Long Term Recovery Committee on behalf of the state disaster relief funds, that we obtained back in June 2025," Bennett said, explaining the distribution plan and remaining balance. The board thanked Bennett after the vote and noted staff will work with the committee on implementation details.
