Commissioners approve opening of previously unopened road northwest of Bayberry Avenue

County Attorney Beaman introduced a public hearing on a petition to open a previously unopened road northwest of Bayberry Avenue in Cumberland and turned the matter to Stefan Hoffman, who said he represented William S. and Amy G. Adams in the petition.
Hoffman said the Adams seek to open and then eventually close a portion of roadway immediately north of their property; he told the commission the only adjacent neighbors, Walter and Teresa Fyles, consented to both opening and closing and have waived the portion they would receive upon closure. Hoffman noted the plat has been recorded as plat 2683 in Allegheny County's plat records and asked the commission to consent to opening the road. Attorney Beaman said Public Works is amenable but that any later closure would be conditioned on a recorded easement to preserve county utility rights. The commissioners voted to open the road.
"This is a previously unopened road," Hoffman said when describing the petition. The commission directed staff to prepare the easement language and return any future closure to the board for formal action.
