Becca's Closet funds SUHS prom class; teacher honored with Mid-Michigan Golden Apple award

Dr. Roberts said Becca's Closet has agreed to fund the entire 2026 prom class for Saginaw United students. Board materials and staff comments recorded a $14,000 donation from Becca's Closet; Dr. Roberts also said Macy's will contribute funds. Mr. Gordon identified Candace Houpis as a key organizer and Ms. Houpis greeted the board and was photographed.
The board also recognized Rwaida Bates of Jesse Loomis Elementary as a Mid-Michigan Golden Apple Award winner; Dr. Roberts said Mrs. Bates was one of five nominees statewide. Board members congratulated Bates during final comments and praised student ambassadors who presented earlier in the meeting.
