Board agrees to oppose ITC high-voltage line near district property
Summary
After a presentation by a township official, the Williamston Board of Education reached consensus to draft a letter or resolution opposing proposed ITC high-voltage power line routes that could border district property on Sherwood Road.
Williamstown Township Supervisor Ron Poth told the Williamston Board of Education on July 27 that one projected ITC high-voltage route would run along the north border of district-owned property on Sherwood Road and said the lines "will decrease property values and, subsequently, decrease millage income for the District." Dr. Adam Spina introduced Mr. Poth during the discussion.
Board members responded by agreeing to prepare a letter of support and/or a resolution asking that high-voltage power lines not be routed along district property; Mrs. Belanger added the item to the agenda for the board's regular Aug. 10 meeting. The minutes record that the board reached consensus to oppose routing lines on district property but do not record a formal vote at this special meeting.
