President Gary Miller called the Committee of the Whole to order on May 11 and the board considered candidates to fill a vacant seat on the Board of Education. Superintendent Gail Hughey interviewed four applicants: Elizabeth Godbout, Richard Hart, Eric Queener and Jennifer Sherlund.
Board member Alan Withers moved and Matt Biermann seconded a motion to appoint Eric Queener to the vacant seat; the motion carried unanimously, 5-0. "Withers/Biermann moved to approve Eric Queener to fill the vacant position on the West Branch-Rose City Area School Board of Education for term until the next (November 2026) election results, as presented," minutes record.
President Gary Miller announced the appointment and Queener took and subscribed to the Oath of Office administered by Karyn Randall, Notary Public, State of Michigan; the signed oath was filed with board records. The appointee will hold the seat until the results of the November 2026 election determine the next full-term officeholder.
