The West Branch–Rose City Area Schools Board of Education convened a regular meeting on March 9, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the Ogemaw Heights High School Media Center. President Gary Miller called the meeting to order, and trustees adjusted the agenda to reschedule the FFA presentation and move Food Service discussion to the regular meeting.
Director of Finance Ted Matuszak reviewed February financial reports for the board; the minutes record that the reports were reviewed but do not provide line-item figures. Board members also noted several items to appear at the next regular meeting, including a five‑year audit-services proposal from Weinlander Fitzhugh and contract-renewal considerations for 4M/Hi‑Tec and district food-service operations. The board recorded a COOR ISD public hearing on a three‑year waiver for a pre–Labor Day start scheduled for March 11 at 5:30 p.m. at the COOR ISD Administrative Office, 11051 N. Cut Rd., Roscommon, MI.
Late in the evening Trustee Alan Withers moved — and Secretary Debra R. Abraham seconded — a motion to enter a closed session under Section 8(c) of the Michigan Open Meetings Act to discuss EA/USW collective bargaining negotiations. The minutes show a roll call of Abraham, Withers, Miller and Biermann with the motion carrying unanimously, 4–0; the board entered closed session at 7:15 p.m. and reconvened at 8:00 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 8:08 p.m.
