Trustees Withers and Kartes moved to approve the consent agenda, which included prior meeting minutes, the finance report and new Title I‑funded summer positions; the motion carried 5‑0. The board separately approved five new hires — including Courtney Cardell (At‑Risk Paraprofessional at Surline Elementary, $14.21/hour) and Robert LaFleur (transportation mechanic, $20.26/hour) — on a motion by Kartes/Withers that carried 5‑0.
The board accepted a five‑year audit proposal from Weinlander‑Fitzhugh CPA & Consultants with annual fees listed as: 2026 $22,850; 2027 $23,950; 2028 $25,150; 2029 $26,350; and 2030 $27,650. Trustees Abraham and Withers moved to accept the proposal; the motion carried unanimously. The board also approved renewing the Chartwells food service contract for the 2026–2027 school year on a Withers/Kartes motion, 5‑0.
Finally, the trustees voted to merge Rose City School's 5th grade into Surline Middle School; the roll call recorded Abraham, Withers, Kartes, Miller and Biermann in favor and the motion carried 5‑0. The board then approved a closed session under Section 8(c) of the Open Meetings Act to discuss collective bargaining, entered closed session at 6:20 p.m., reconvened at 7:21 p.m., and adjourned.
