"El paso 1 es la home language survey, que cada familia completa al inscribirse," the presenter said, then described the short English assessment used to gauge support needs, the review by a Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC), and a follow-up letter to families in their preferred language explaining eligibility and services.
The presenter also cautioned that families can change their home language survey responses only within a two-week window before the English screening is administered; once the screening is completed, the survey responses are fixed for that assessment cycle.
