Lorain County commissioners approve appropriations, confirm investments and authorize large IT contracts

The Lorain County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 27 approved a package of appropriations and vendor requisitions and confirmed investment interest payments recommended by the county treasurer. Commissioners David J. Moore, Marty Gallagher and Jeff Riddell voted unanimously to adopt the resolutions.
Among the approvals was Res. 26‑56, which reallocated funds for multiple departments — notable line items included $969,119 for professional services at the Western Lorain County Water Resource Recovery Facility and $962,960 for airport capital improvements. Res. 26‑57 authorized dozens of departmental requisitions; the IT office sought and received authorization for a comprehensive endpoint and security management purchase from Conversant Group LLC totaling $1,551,989.90 and additional Conversant invoices were listed ($364,492.10). Commissioners discussed individual items such as postage for tax bills during the vote.
Clerk Theresa L. Upton recorded unanimous roll‑call approval on the matters. Commissioner Moore, discussing the county's planned security effort for elected officials, said, “That is the security protection for the county. We are about 95% of elected officials that have joined. Hope to have all on board.”
The board also adopted Res. 26‑59 to authorize the payment of county bills, which itemized general‑fund and special‑revenue vendor payments. The actions were recorded as adopted by unanimous votes.
