Board approves student handbooks, MHSAA membership and reviews two-year goals

On June 1 the Williamston Board of Education approved the 2026–2027 student handbooks for Williamston Middle School, Discovery Elementary and Explorer Elementary. The motion was made by David Indish, seconded by Deborah Wolf, and passed unanimously.
The board also approved the MHSAA 2026–2027 Membership Resolution (motion by Christopher Lewis, seconded by Deborah Wolf; Aye: 6, Nay: 0). Board members then reviewed the district's stated 2024–2026 goals, which emphasize individualized instruction, maintaining a fund balance, communication, infrastructure and safety improvements, and adopting a common grading system.
Board member reports closed the meeting: Nancy Deal asked about increasing elementary family engagement; David Indish reported on the Willy Wellness event; Deborah Wolf commented on the retiree event; and Sarah Belanger reminded the board about graduation and thanked staff for the year.
