The Tunbridge Selectboard held a special site-visit meeting on July 28, 2026 at the Tunbridge Town Garage to inspect a proposed location for a new four-bay garage on the same property at 54 Recreation Rd. Chair Gary Mullen called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m., and attendees included Vice Chair Mike McPhetres, Assistant Aileen Lem, architect Andrew LaRosa of Architect PLLC, and Selectboard members Larry Wight and Baxter Doty.
The group walked the marked location—staked earlier by Road Foreman Rodney Hoyt, who did not attend—and discussed basic program requirements for a four-bay building long enough to store town trucks with plows attached. Architect Andrew LaRosa recommended ensuring the mechanical systems and heating package are properly designed to avoid leaking and condensation problems reported in other recently built garages. LaRosa also shared a Request for Proposals used for Roxbury's four-bay garage as a reference and suggested site visits to garages in Chelsea, Brookfield, and Vershire to inform Tunbridge's design choices.
Board members discussed approaching the project in phases: information-gathering, stakeholder engagement, and public outreach. LaRosa offered to provide the group with write-ups describing different approaches to the project; Aileen Lem said she would follow up on those materials and next steps. The Selectboard unanimously adjourned the site visit meeting when the walk-through concluded.
