Selectboard delays truck body purchase as road report flags washed bridges and sand hauling

On July 28 the Selectboard reviewed the Road Foreman report delivered on Rodney Hoyt’s behalf. The board learned that Pickett’s, Inc. of Chelsea and Chase Site Services of Sharon are hauling sand and granite sand to support road maintenance, and that several town trucks need taillight replacements.
Simon Bradford, chief of the volunteer fire department, reported that “four out of the six bridges are washed.” The board received two truck body quotes: Viking‑Cives of Vermont (delivery by Sept. 30 or Oct. 1, 2027 if ordered in July 2026) and HP Fairfield (12–14 months after order date). The Selectboard voted to table a purchase decision until Rodney Hoyt can review options and appear at the next regular meeting on August 11.
