Sheriff reports a K9 drug find, says local theft reports reflect perception more than records

"We had a nice traffic stop... one of our K9s... made a traffic stop and did a drug sniffer on the vehicle and found some, drugs underneath the hood," the sheriff said, describing the successful enforcement action.
Commissioners raised constituent concerns about thefts in the Garrison area and asked whether increased patrols or resources were possible. The sheriff said deputies have spent considerable time working that area and that while residents perceive an increase in crime, the department’s records management system did not substantiate a measurable increase. He said deputies will continue visible enforcement and community engagement in the area.
