Langley council rejects motion to fly Canada flag on Canada Day after tie break
Summary

Councilmember Craig Cyr proposed that Langley show support for visitors from Canada and Mexico by flying their flags; that first motion was withdrawn after brief discussion. Cyr then moved to authorize flying the Canada flag on Canada Day, July 1, 2025, subject to federal and state regulations.
The second motion received two votes in favor (Councilmembers Rhonda Salerno and Craig Cyr) and two opposed (Councilmembers Chris Carlson and Gail Fleming). Mayor Kennedy Horstman cast the tie-breaking vote against the motion, and the motion failed. The council did not adopt any flag-flying authorization at the meeting.
