Council rejects extra PAB hearing on Buildable Land Analysis, then supports Edgecliff Drive rezoning

Community Planning Director Meredith Penny presented part two of the Buildable Land Analysis. Public commenters included Jonathan Moses (reading a letter from Kerry Holland), Barbara Seitle and Bruce Cordebine. Councilmember Craig Cyr moved that the Planning Advisory Board hold another hearing and return to Council; that motion, seconded by Councilmember Harolynne Bobis, failed on a 2–3 vote (For: Cyr, Bobis; Opposed: Carlson, Fleming, Salerno).
Following that failed motion, Councilmember Rhonda Salerno moved to support an ordinance rezoning the last area on Edgecliff Drive to RS 15,000 to protect extensive critical areas consisting of wetlands and a geo-hazard bluff prone to landslide activity; Councilmember Gail Fleming seconded. The motion passed with three votes in favor (Salerno, Carlson, Fleming) and two abstentions (Bobis, Cyr), with the abstentions recorded as due to insufficient information. Council then approved continuing discussion at a June 23 special meeting for further consideration.
