Public hearing held on CDBG pass-through for Imaginarium rehabilitation; organization to return with full grant application

The commission held a public hearing on a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application to the Kansas Department of Commerce for rehabilitation of the Imaginarium. Garrett Nordstrom of Governmental Assistance Services and Melanie Curtis, co-executive director of the Imaginarium, described programs, school partnerships and summer camps and said the hearing satisfied public-notice requirements.
Nordstrom and Curtis told commissioners the county's role would be as a pass-through for the grant and that the Imaginarium will return to the board with the full application and more detail in the coming weeks. Board member Sarah Eimer said expansion of the facility could allow more students and scholarships and enable concurrent programming. No county financial obligation beyond pass-through administration was recorded at the hearing.
