Patience Bearse updated the commission on preparations for the Recreation Festival, reporting more than $800 in sponsor donations to date and a current event budget of approximately $3,365. A small number of vendors have signed so far but organizers expect about 12 vendors; the Villagers have offered backup ice cream service and will lend a cotton-candy machine.
Bearse said organizers plan to hire a juggler for $300 and will send final logistics to vendors and begin a marketing push highlighting sponsors. Commissioner Julia Gumbart said she will attend the next selectboard meeting to seek selectboard participation in the festival and to recruit participants for a townwide kickball game that will close the event.
