Pojoaque board authorizes legal review after dispute over high-school polling site in county MOU

Board members spent extensive time on a draft MOU from the Santa Fe County Clerk designating two district facilities as convenience voting centers for the November election. Several board members said the high-school location raised security, liability and voter-communication concerns and noted the draft on file in the packet was unsigned. "I remain concerned that the high school site is a threat to security," one board member said, urging a binding agreement and legal review before county operations proceed.
Following discussion, a motion passed that authorizes the superintendent and board president to work with district legal counsel to evaluate the county's September 4 draft MOU and, if counsel determines it is appropriate, to sign on the district's behalf (the motion notes the draft does not require a board signature). The board recorded the motion as carried after affirmations by multiple members. Administration said it will send the MOU to legal counsel tomorrow and follow up with the county clerk's office for an executed agreement.
