Mayor outlines Innovation Center work, emergency plan and library art project

Mayor Dan O. Rankin said the Darrington Innovation Center project is being brought to grade and that engineering is prepared to begin on the road system; the town will coordinate conduit placement with the PUD. "Mayor is writing an emergency plan with Snohomish County Department of Emergency Management, This is a county wide Comprehensive Emergency Plan (CEMP) outlining hazards, risks and major disasters for the Town of Darrington, to be annexed with the county emergency management plan," the mayor said.
He also announced a Darrington Library community tiny-art project with submissions due by Sept. 30 and an unveiling planned for Oct. 20 in the library gallery. Regarding recent seismic activity, the mayor said USGS seismometers on Glacier Peek have been installed following an earlier delay; no additional USGS updates were available at the time of the meeting.
