Student council officers from Hermosa Valley presented a summary of current student activities, telling the board that band, robotics and academic clubs are active and that community projects are underway.
Noah, ASB president, said the band program ran a hands-on instrument "petting zoo" so fifth graders could try different instruments, and noted that all band ensembles are using a web-based practice tool. "We are excited again to be here tonight and update you on what has been happening at Valley," Noah said. Other student speakers described a pen-pal program sending letters to Loreto, Mexico; a new Math Olympiad team; Science Olympiad and Model UN activities; and a digital citizenship assembly focused on online conflict and AI misuse.
Board members praised the students' work and asked a few clarifying questions about programming and next steps. The presentation served as a brief community-facing start to the meeting before the board moved into staff reports and action items.
