Board approves Measure HV construction managers, compliance monitors and PBK design contracts

Staff presented a group of Measure HV procurement recommendations and the board approved selections for construction management, labor compliance, commissioning and architectural services.
Paula Montalvo told the board that Kitchell was selected as a prequalified construction management firm and recommended for a construction management services agreement. Staff also recommended CS and Associates for labor compliance monitoring; staff explained the firm provides as-needed monitoring to ensure contractors comply with prevailing-wage and reporting requirements under state law. "State law specifically says that if the contractor doesn't comply, then we withhold payment until they comply with those requirements," a staff member explained.
The board also approved Allied Construction Services for commissioning and selected PBK Architects for design work on Hermosa Valley School modernization phases 1 and 2 (fee: $1,021,000), Hermosa Vista classroom modifications (fee: $50,000) and Hermosa View portable classrooms (fee: $30,000). Design work will commence following board approval.
