Board hears first reading of updated anaphylaxis policy; nurse to train staff

Superintendent Katie Chavarria introduced a first reading of Policy 3420 (Anaphylaxis Prevention and Response) at the April 22 meeting, explaining that the District Nurse requested the change to align district policy with updated state guidance. The revision would allow schools to keep a supply of epinephrine to administer to students with known allergies or to those showing signs of anaphylaxis.
Board members asked about training. Jeremy Silver asked if training would be provided and Lisa Young said she believed most, if not all, staff should be trained. Katie said the District Nurse is in the process of training several staff members.
