Skamania School District presses contractor after HVAC system fails to meet specs

At its Feb. 18 meeting the Skamania School District board discussed continuing problems with an HVAC system installed during a prior renovation that, officials said, does not match approved specifications and is not performing as designed.
District minutes report that Cincinnati Insurance concluded its review and attributed the issue to equipment design rather than subcontractor workmanship, referring the matter to ParTech’s insurer. Legal counsel remains engaged and the district will retain an independent adjuster to evaluate the system; ParTech was reminded that, as the district’s contracted party, it remains responsible for resolving the issue and the board said it may consider legal action if an acceptable resolution is not reached.
Board Chair Donald Collins summarized the steps the district has taken to coordinate remedies and outside review. The board did not vote on a specific legal action during the public session; minutes state only that coordination meetings and further evaluation are planned. The discussion also informed a separate decision to fund an indoor air quality assessment tied to system recommissioning work.
