Resident asks city to forward variance request to planner for reduced setback and smaller footprint

During public comment, resident Sharon Hinderer of 217 Lincoln asked the council to forward her variance requests to the city's planner, Kurt Danison. She asked the city to consider reducing the required rear-yard setback from 15 feet to 10 feet and to approve a building footprint of 880 square feet in an R2 zoning district; the current minimum building footprint in the district is 1,000 square feet.

Mayor Diane Kohout said she would forward Hinderer's materials to Planner Kurt Danison for review and would provide Hinderer an update once the planner completes his evaluation. No formal action was taken by the council during the meeting; the variance process will proceed through the planner's review and any subsequent hearings or decisions required by city code.
