Mayor reports flood response, tax mailing, police enforcement numbers and new county health partnership

Mayor Lane updated the council on a recent storm that flooded several roadways — Grand Ave, Central Ave, Lafayette Ave, North 8th Street and Wagoner Road — saying temporary closures were necessary but there were no reported injuries or major property damage. The mayor thanked the fire department, ambulance corps and police for their response.
"We had flooding on Grand Ave, Central Ave, Lafayette Ave, North 8th Street, and Wagoner Road," the mayor said in his report, adding that streets reopened after water drained and that the borough had no reports of fallen trees or property damage. He also announced that the 2026–27 tax bills were mailed and the municipal portion of the tax rate is 3.344%; the borough extended the tax-bill grace period to Sept. 4, 2026. On public health, the borough will host free monthly blood-pressure screenings (Sept–Dec) and a flu clinic (Oct. 20) through a shared-services agreement with Passaic County.
