The clerk read the motion on the record: "The motion required for your closed session today is to convene a closed session pursuant to Virginia code sections 2.2 dash 37 11 point 1.1, and 0.7 to discuss appointments as listed on the agenda and to consult with legal counsel pertaining to the potential settlement of pending litigation where such consultation or briefing in an open meeting would adversely affect the negotiating or litigating posture of the public body." A motion and second were made and roll-call votes were taken, with each listed member responding "Aye." The mayor announced the closed session would meet in the Community Development Conference Room on the 5th Floor at 2:50; council planned to reconvene afterward to certify the closed session and adjourn.
