Board weighs fencing, access and liability as park plans advance

Board members raised site‑safety and access concerns as part of the park design discussion on July 14. Mayor Henry Coats said leaders decided "we probably will not put a fishing pier at the pond because it is too much liability," and staff recommended installing a chain‑link fence along the railroad and decorative perimeter fencing around the park. Public Works Director Richard Mills said fenced enclosures will also be required around electrical meters and other specific features.
Vice Mayor Mike Binkley and other members asked whether bicycles would be allowed on the amphitheater grounds; Mills said they will not allow bicycles or any motorized vehicles. The board also discussed the need for a divider fence for pickleball courts and agreed to ask DT Designs for alternative amphitheater renderings and to consult an acoustics expert before settling on a final orientation and construction budget.
