City manager praises public works after rare heavy snow event

City Manager Mary Bunting told the council the recent storm delivered an atypical 8–11 inches of snow in parts of Hampton and praised the city’s public works teams for their response. She said deputies ran operations in the field while senior staff were out of town and asked residents to pass on thanks to crews; she said the city plans a special recognition event for staff after the winter season.
Bunting also noted she and Public Works Director Jason Mitchell were attending the Bloomberg Philanthropies sustainable cities kickoff when the storm hit and that deputies Ryan DeProfio and Michael Bowery managed operations in their absence. “I think you all will agree that they did a phenomenal job,” Bunting said, and encouraged residents to share their appreciation.
