The City Council approved use permit application 24-0490 allowing a Raising Cane's drive-through restaurant at 1044 West Mercury Boulevard to operate extended hours.
Chief Planner Donald Whipple described the site in the River Pointe shopping center and said the applicant requested extended hours (requested hours included late-night operation); staff concluded the site and scale are consistent with other fast-food operations in the Colosseum Central district and recommended approval with eight conditions addressing hours, outdoor dining, window transparency/privacy, capacity and compliance with licensing requirements.
Whipple noted the applicant had not held a community meeting and recommended conditions similar to those applied to comparable restaurants. No members of the public were signed up to speak on the item. Council moved, seconded, and approved the use permit by roll call.
The permit allows the applicant to operate under the listed conditions and requires the operator to return for a permit amendment if they later propose alcohol service.
