Water department leadership described the vehicle as the department's main tap/repair and main-break response truck, carrying inventory, generators and hydraulic systems needed to reduce downtime during repairs. The department head told council the current unit is a 2009 model and that the city has gotten about 16 years of service from it. "We've gotten 16 years out of the one," the department head said, adding that modern units include equipment for the lead-line removal program.
A resident questioned the cost and asked about procurement oversight; staff explained Sourcewell and MyDeal are cooperative purchasing vendors that vet pricing and product specification. Council approved the purchase after discussion; motions carried on the floor.
