Council approves $ landscape maintenance contract to address deferred median and facility upkeep

Bonham described the scope — pruning and trimming shrubs and trees, repairing irrigation as needed, adding mulch and plant materials, mowing and edging, and routine litter and weed removal — and said the contract is intended to improve operational efficiency while current staffing levels (nine full‑time staff and several vacancies) limit the city's ability to perform this work in‑house.
Vice Mayor Musinski emphasized the community impact and flagged several larger facility line items to the public, naming the city cemetery and city hall complex as relatively high‑cost elements of the contract. After questions about who is responsible for irrigation repairs, how ClickFix requests will be prioritized and whether drought‑tolerant planting will be used, council moved, seconded and approved the contract on roll call.
