Council raises garbage-collection rates, cites landfill cost increases

The Soap Lake City Council approved a resolution (to be numbered 1035) increasing rates and charges for garbage collection and disposal. Moved by Councilmember Arnold and seconded by Councilmember Carson, the motion carried unanimously.
Councilmembers noted that the majority of the increase results from higher costs charged to the city by CDSI and the Grant County Landfill, which the city passes through to customers. The resolution did not list a specific dollar amount for individual residential bills in the meeting record.
City staff will update billing and notify customers of the change consistent with municipal procedures.
