Transfer station had 219 users; townwide recycling percentage unclear, board to request Ecomaine tonnage

Public Works told the board that for July 22, 25 and 26 the transfer station recorded 219 users and 159 recyclers, which the director said represents 72.6% of users for those three days and generated $1,332.56 in revenue. The director and board members clarified that the 72.6% figure reflects the share of transfer-station users who recycled during that period, not a townwide recycling percentage.
Resident Bonnie Laughlin asked the board, "I'm curious, though, about where we stand as a town in the percentage of recycling that we do in general," and board members agreed to ask Ecomaine for tonnage data so staff can compute a townwide recycling rate. The board also reiterated transfer-station rules — hours, sticker costs ($20), items not accepted — and announced a monthly raffle for recyclers (this month's prize: six tickets to the Saco River Theater).
