Outgoing councilmember Tom Campbell honored after 21 years of service

Visiting legislative staff from Senator Bill Dodd’s and Assemblymember Lori Wilson’s offices presented resolutions and certificates recognizing Campbell’s service. The mayor said the city thanks Campbell for “21 years of dedicated public service.”
Campbell delivered remarks recalling his time on the planning commission and council, describing policy work on open government rules, campaign‑finance reforms and budget reserves. He urged residents to stay involved: “Just because you don't take an interest in politics, doesn't mean politics won't take an interest in you,” Campbell said, and reflected on the city staff and volunteers who supported civic work. Colleagues praised his institutional knowledge and mentorship during a series of short tributes.
The council recessed briefly and prepared for the swearing‑in and remarks of newly elected members later in the evening.
