The Benicia City Council formally certified the results of the Nov. 5 general municipal election after the registrar completed certification earlier that day.
City Clerk Lisa Wolf reported that Benicia had 20,236 registered voters and 16,652 ballots cast, a turnout of 82.29%. Wolf reported mail, precinct and provisional ballot counts and then read the results for contested offices: Mayor Young received 10,000 votes to Kevin Kirby’s 5,266; council results listed Trevor Masinski, Lionel Largaspada and others with winners declared. Measure F passed with 9,616 yes votes to 6,175 no votes; Measures G and H did not pass.
Council moved to adopt the certification on a roll call vote. No substantive public comment on the certification was recorded. The clerk’s presentation concluded the item and the council moved on to recognition and other ceremonial matters.
