Police chief reports July 4 compliance and new cameras at Summit Street bathrooms

Police Chief Siegel reported generally good compliance with the city's fireworks ordinance over the July 4 period and said the department had sent a breakdown of calls to the council. He added that officers have handled a few lingering fireworks complaints but that overall compliance was satisfactory.
Siegel also announced cameras were installed at the Summit Street bathrooms in partnership with the county and thanked Commissioner Olsen, Cameron Pell, Dennis and Sean Humphreys for help getting the system in place. "Today's been our first day kinda playing with the system, and it's pretty amazing what the technology is nowadays," he said, adding the cameras should help the city identify and ticket illegal dumping at the recycle bins.
The chief said the county appreciated the city's involvement in monitoring the site. No enforcement numbers or expected citation counts were provided at the meeting.
