Council adopts six-year transportation improvement plan

The council voted to adopt Resolution 2025-02, the city's six-year transportation improvement plan covering 2026 through 2031. Chair opened the public hearing, outlined the planned projects and closed the hearing after no public comment.
"In 2026 it would be a Water Street Road construction and storm improvements with the sidewalk on 1 side from US Route 101 to Adam Street," Chair said while summarizing the plan. Other listed projects include reconstruction of 2nd Street (Monroe to Quincy) in 2027, Cowlitz Avenue (Quincy to Jackson) in 2028, two phases of West Cowlitz Avenue work in 2029, 2nd West reconstruction in 2030 and B Street and 3rd Street reconstruction in 2031.
Council members discussed that the plan is a multi-year schedule and subject to change based on grant funding; one councilor cautioned that projects have been pushed back in past years. Patricia Corcoran moved the resolution and the council approved it with no opposition. The Chair noted the plan will be reviewed annually and that grant awards are the determining factor for whether listed projects move forward.
