Council adopts Pacific County wildfire protection plan; official raises fireworks concern

During discussion the presiding officer voiced concern that the plan references fireworks three times but focuses on public-education messages rather than stronger controls at high-risk locations such as the beach. "They mentioned fireworks three times in it, and each time they mentioned it, it was about people need to learn about fireworks safety," the presiding officer said, adding surprise that the planning commission had not treated the issue as more significant.
No formal amendment to the resolution was proposed; the council adopted the plan as written and did not take additional policy direction at the meeting.
