Commission hears calls for sidewalks, parking changes and a flashing light at Rt. 14 and Meadow Street

Commissioner Horace Duke told the commission Williamstown needs sidewalks and parallel parking to make the downtown area more user-friendly and safe. "I would like to see a flashing light down by the intersection of Rt 14 and Meadow Street. It's hard to see coming out and turning left into town - traffic goes fast, they don't slow down," Duke said, adding that trimming shrubbery on the corner would also improve visibility.
Chair Rich Turner and other commissioners noted the suggestions and discussed transportation access issues in the context of the town plan and potential funding. Commissioners also referenced an existing bus route to Hannaford and said accessibility improvements — sidewalks and better parking design — could be included among town-plan priorities or considered for targeted grant applications.
