Chair Rich Turner summarized highlights from the recent Central Vermont Regional Planning Commission meeting, noting Montpelier is updating its municipal plan and seeking growth-area funding. Turner said Williamstown and neighboring towns were mentioned in the regional planning conversations and that grant opportunities related to Browns Fields may be worth exploring locally.
Turner also relayed a presentation by Sam Lash on hot-weather planning. "They have a Cooling Site Map identifying 42 cooling sites — 15 Libraries, some public facilities, fire stations," Turner said. Commissioners discussed whether the town should incorporate cooling-site locations into the Williamstown Town Plan or the local hazard mitigation plan and planned to consider how that could be reflected in forthcoming plan drafts.
